Stolen Promises By John Carter

We had so much hope for you
But you threw it all away
This would be so much easier
If you were here today

We can't see your point of view
So we'll tell you that you're wrong
And if by chance you do succeed
Well, we knew it all along

How can you steal my promises
If you're certain I will fail
You pushed me on this balcony
Now you say to mind the rail?

You want me to be careful
Want to catch me if I fall
But what has brought about this change
When you were never there at all?

I have my fill of reality
On the ten o'clock news
So I don't need RealiTV
To warp my point of view

Why does everybody seem
To want to change my mind
It isn't much ground to defend
But damn it, it's still mine...
